David A. Lapins has been practicing law for more than thirty years in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate, finance law, and litigation related to those areas.
Mr. Lapins has extensive experience in the representation of commercial real estate private equity funds, investors, owners, and institutional lenders. He practices in all aspects of commercial real estate joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, multi-property and multi-state mortgage loan transactions as well as asset and loan portfolio acquisitions and sales. Mr. Lapins manages and structures complex litigation matters, and drafts and negotiates joint venture agreements, development agreements, management agreements, and leasing agreements. He also has significant experience in representing lenders and borrowers in construction, acquisition, mezzanine, and permanent financings, involving hotels, regional shopping malls and other shopping centers, anchor stores, office buildings, multi-family projects, logistics and industrial projects, and other real estate properties as well as loan workouts in those matters.
After graduating from Northwestern University School of Law, Mr. Lapins was Partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (Dentons US LLP). Prior to joining Ginsberg Jacobs, Mr. Lapins was Partner at Drane Freyer & Lapins, Ltd., spending over a decade serving in a general counsel capacity for two real estate companies. Mr. Lapins uses his intellect and personality to effectively achieve our clients’ goals and actively serves as a mentor for other lawyers.
